Tsebo wins Gold at the 2019 SAFMA Awards for Excellence in Facilities Management

Tsebo is honoured to announce that it has been named one of the winners at the 2019 SAFMA Awards. The crowning took place at the Awards gala dinner held at the Focus Rooms in Sunninghill on 21 February 2019. Tsebo Facilities Solutions was awarded Gold Status in the Excellence in FM Category for its Building the Legacy project at the Department of Basic Education (DBE) in partnership with Tirasano.

The award for Excellence in Facilities Management recognises efforts made by an individual, team, or corporate involved in Facilities Management, from researchers through to facility operators who have made a positive contribution to the knowledge, practical application and communication of strategies to improve the workplace environment and sustainable performance of their facilities.

Tirasano, which means ‘working together’, is one of Tsebo’s Private Public Partnerships (PPPs). Its first eight years of a 25-year contract with the Department of Basic Education has proven highly successful, seeing both partners earn several accolades. Tirasano strives to provide world-class services aligned with its clients’ needs and requirements and is seen as a benchmark for accommodation-focused private public partnerships by many local and international universities.

Through this partnership, Tirasano and Tsebo Facilities Solutions understand the importance of conservation of the environment, most particularly in the Facilities Management sector and as such have implemented processes and solutions that comply with environmental standards (Green Building Standards, ISO Standards and Legislation), to buy soma to home, taking accountability for the impact on the environment.

Tirasano conducted feasibility studies to reduce demand of municipal water supply with water fed directly from the underground to provide irrigation for the gardens. Tirasano has also started changing the garden designs with more water friendly landscaping. Technology advancements based on the same principal was then used to feed underground water to the central air-conditioning system, thus reducing Municipal water supply by 40% in the first month of operations.

Innovation was a key driver in the approach for this project and various solutions were implemented to further increase efficiency. These solutions included the installation of a PowerStar energy management system that regulates and cleans voltage while reducing carbon emissions by means of harmonising the incoming voltage from the municipal supply. In addition, motion sensors were installed throughout the building to ensure that lighting is provided only when needed.

“This award is testament to the hard work and dedication of all those who have dedicated their best efforts to ensuring this project is a success. I am proud of our skilled team for their commitment to service excellence and for consistently innovating for the benefit of our clients,” said Aubrey Mc Elnea, Managing Director of Tsebo Facilities Solutions.
