Keenly aware of both the skills shortage and the special needs of many of the members of the communities it serves, Fedics – one of South Africa’s leading outsourced catering companies – is celebrating its 40th anniversary in unique style.
Fedics is awarding IHS learnerships to 40 disabled employees, enabling them to participate in a Theta-recognised three month course that will teach them everything from health and safety to customer service and food preparation. The top employee will receive a three year HTA Chef Scholarship valued at R60 000.
Clive Smith, CEO of Fedics holding company The Tsebo Group, says he can think of no better way to show the company’s appreciation to its clients, suppliers, staff and communities than its “40 for 40” initiative. “While Fedics has had a significant impact on the South African outsourced catering arena, our communities have had a significant impact on us. This is our way of thanking everyone, and making a difference in the lives of one person for every year we’ve been in business.”
